Webstival 2 | From Insights to Action, Advancing Climate Resilience

Webstival 2 | From Insights to Action, Advancing Climate Resilience

The second CLIMAAX digital festival, titled “From Insights to Action, Advancing Climate Resilience, offered a platform for regions and stakeholders to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other’s progress. On the one hand, this fully online event provided participants with valuable insights into the achievements of the pilot regions and selected candidates of the first open call, and, on the other, facilitated a collaborative environment for newly selected regions. By bringing together a diverse group of participants, the webstival aimed to foster a community of practice that is better equipped to tackle climate risks and develop resilient strategies.

The webstival, which took place over two days, offered a programme designated to balance in-depth discussions with opportunities for networking and peer learning, ensuring that participants can engage meaningfully with the content and with each other. The event brought together around 400 climate enthusiasts for two days of collaborative learning and knowledge exchange. To help us tailor future Webstivals to your needs and interests, we’d appreciate your feedback—please take a moment to fill out our survey here

Climate resilience is increasingly critical for regions across Europe as they adapt to the escalating impacts of climate change. The CLIMAAX project, with its robust Framework and Toolbox, supports regional efforts to assess climate risks and implement effective adaptation strategies. As the project progresses, it is crucial to create opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaborative learning, enabling regions to strengthen their capacities and share practical insights.

29 January

The first day focused on the experiences and lessons learned from the pilot regions. Representatives from these regions, such as Setúbal in Portugal and Žilina in Slovakia, shared their tangible outcomes, the challenges they encountered, and the strategies they used to integrate the CLIMAAX Framework into regional planning. Participants had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers through an interactive Q&A session, allowing for a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of climate risk assessments and regional adaptation efforts.

The second day was dedicated to supporting regions that are starting to implement the CLIMAAX tools. The session opened with insights from a representative of the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change Secretariat, highlighting the alignment of the CLIMAAX project with broader European adaptation goals. Then, newly selected regions participated in breakout rooms, where they received practical advice from the pilot regions on topics such as integrating the CLIMAAX Framework into existing strategies, overcoming challenges in using the Toolbox, and engaging local stakeholders. The day concluded with a co-learning session and networking time, creating space for new regions to share their initial experiences, ask questions, and explore potential collaborations with other participants.
